Classification of air conditioning system.

1. According to purpose:

A. Comfort air conditioning system: design for comfort of human being temperature,humidity, purity, air motion are controlled. 
B. Industrial air conditioning system: to control atmospheric condition required for industrial process. 
2. According to season of the year: 
A. Winter air conditioning system: heat the air air and bring the moisture content to required level. 
B. Summer air conditioning system: cooling the air and removing the moisture. 
C. Year-round air conditioning system ( all weather conditioning system ):heating or cooling as per requirements in different seasons. 
3. According to arrangement of equipment's: 
A. Central air conditioning system: for use building or officers air is cooled in machine roof and supplied through ducks two different areas. 
B. Unitary air conditioning system/packaged/window air conditioning system: small space or different rooms are called by separate packaged or assembled air conditioning unit. 
4. According to working substance: 
A. All air system 
B. Chilled water system 
C. Air water system.

Window Air Conditioning:

1. In window AC vapour compression cycle is used. The evaporator coils are used as cooling coils.
2. The temperature of cooling coil is lower than due point temperature of surrounding air then cooling and dehumidification carried out simultaneously.
3. All components of vapour compression cycle are mounted on plane seat. Their is perfect partition which divides inside portion and outside portion of room. It is installed in window .
4. Window AC are available in market in the range 1 ton of refrigeration to 3 ton of refrigeration. 
5. Initially inside room, the air is of hot and humid type. This air passes over the evaporator coil. Due to Cooling and dehumidification the air becomes cool and dry air collected at the top of evaporator and it is recirculated again and again. 
6. Due to long use it is necessary to maintain relative and purity of air within the range. 
7. A small Window is provided in the partition known as ventury through which surrounding air can be mixed in the conditional air. 
8. For condenser, cooling media used is air. Surrounding air passes over the condenser and reject heat to surrounding.

Split type air conditioning.
Split air conditioning is the next version of Window air conditioning. Only evaporator coils are located inside the room and all other component of vapour compression cycle outside the room.No provision for humidity control as in window Air conditioning.


Applications:
It is used in offices,drawing room, bedroom, conference hall, meeting room, etc.

Limitations of window air conditioning:
1. It has no control over humidity.
2. It carries out dehumidification.
3. in most of air conditioning there is no provision for winter heater.
4. No provision for humidification.
