Most Popular refrigerant Gases with their Properties:
Fig12.2: All refrigerant gases

1. Refrigerant R134A Gas:
1.R134a is an extremely used in a wide range of refrigeration and air conditioning applications.
2.It includes medium and high temperature refrigeration (both domestic and commercial) applications.
3. It is used in residential and light air conditioning, automotive air conditioning and industrial application such as centrifugal chillers.
4. It is also common component in many HFC refrigerant blends and is used in some propellent applications.

2. Refrigerent R1270 Gas:
1.R1270 is refrigerant grade propylene (propene), natural, refrigerant suitable for use in low and medium temperature refrigeration applications.
2.It is non toxic with zero ODP (Global Depletion potential) and very low GWP(Ozone Depletion Potential).
3.R1270 is a flammable refrigerant and therefore not suitable for retrofitting existing fluorocarbon refrigerant system.

3. Refrigerant R22 Gas:
1.R22 is suitable for wide range of refrigeration and air conditioning applications across a wide range of temperature.
2.Therefore it becomes the most common refrigerant in many applications after the phaseout of CFCs.

4. Refrigerant R290 Gas:
1.R290 is refrigerant grade propane, a natural refrigerant suitable for use in a range of refrigeration and air conditioning applications.
2. The use of R290 is increasing due to its low environmental impact and excellent thermodynamic performance.
3. It is non-toxic with zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and very low GWP(Global warming Potential).
4. It is a flammable refrigerant and therefore not suitable for retrofitting existing fluorocarbon refrigerant systems.

5. Refrigerant R404A Gas:
1. R404A is an HFC blend that is widely used in low and mediums temperature refrigeration applications, such as those used in commercial refrigeration.
2. It has become the widely accepted alternative to CFC R502, R404A is coming under greater scrutiny due to its high Global Warming Potential, leading to an increased focus on lower alternatives such as R407A, R407F and R442A

6. Refrigerant R407C Gas:
1. R407C is an HFC blend designed to have similar properties to R22 in air containing system.
2.R407C is suitable for residential and light air conditioning and direct expansion in air conditioning system. It is also used in medium temperature refrigeration system.
3. It is not recommended to drop R-407 into R22 systems on top of the existing charge in case of low refrigerant levels.
3. A licensed professional should be contracted to completely remove the R-22 and much of the mineral oil as possible.
4. In the case of compressor change outs, replacement compressors are already manufactured with POE (polyol ester) oil and are therefore more compatible with R-407C than returning the recovered R-22. The recovered R-22 can be sent to facility for disposal.

7. Refrigerant R410A Gas:
1. R410A us HFC blend designed for new R22 systems. It operates at higher pressure than many other refrigerants, and so cannot be used to retrofit R22 systems.
2. Systems designed for R410A can take of its ability to use similar components, making it a key refrigerant for domestic and light air conditioning equipment.
3. R410A is low glide also makes it suitable for some centrifugal compressor, and it can operate in low-temperature applications.

8. Refrigerant R417A Gas:
1. R417A is an HFC retrofit refrigerant for R22 in direct expansion stationary air conditioning (AC) and medium temperature commercial refrigeration system.

9. Refrigerant R508B:
R508B is an HFC/PFC (Perfluorocarbon) blend designed to be a replacement for R503 or R13 in very low temperature refrigeration system, such as environmental chambers and biomedical freezers.

10. Refrigeration R507A:
R507A is an HFC blend, used as a replacement for R502 and R22 in low and medium temperature refrigeration with global warming potential (GWP) of 3985, R507 is under similar scrutiny to R404A.

11. Refrigerant R600A:
1. R600a is grade isobutane, natural refrigerant suitable for various range of refrigeration application.
2. the use of R600a is increasing due to its low environmental impact and excellent thermodynamically performance and it is now the refrigerant gas of choice in domestic and small commercial refrigerators.
3. It is non-toxic with zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and very low GWP (Global Warming Potential)

12. Refrigerant R601A Gas:
Isopentane R601a is used as a refrigerant, but also for the availability of polystyrene and soft polyurethane production process to do foaming agent, but also do chemical raw material or experimental solvents.
